Ilan Lev Method Bodywork
Book a session
The Ilan Lev Method (ILM) is a revolutionary form of hands-on bodywork that sends waves of movement and energy through the body, restoring communication between parts of the body that had been lost, removing pain and blockages, and bringing balance to the sensory, skeletal, and nervous systems.
With a dynamic range of approaches for listening, moving, and responding to a client’s unique needs, ILM practitioners bring gentle, effortless movement to the client’s body, allowing for a rich and powerful dialog within and between client and practitioner. Practitioners use at times subtle, rhythmic, variable movements, rocking motions, stillness, and provocative playfulness of pacing to disrupt patterns of gripping and enliven the body’s natural ability to reorganize habituated tension to heal itself.
This method works with the understanding that tension is often a learned protective response, and that change occurs not through force, but through invitations for new sensory and movement input. Depending on what the body responds to, sessions can be both soothing and/or energizing. This method works well with a diverse range of body types, body abilities and ages.
While we do focus on specific areas and issues, often with amazing results, the body is primarily approached as an interconnected, dynamic system.
Clients are fully clothed during treatments.
Rhys had the privilege of training directly in person with founder, Ilan Lev. Rhys was introduced to this method by dancer / choreographer / ILM Northeast lead trainer Annie Rigney.
